Reference: Codex Assassins

Codex Assassins was a very late arrival to 2nd edition.  It was unique in that it did not feature an army, but rather the combined rules for the four types of Imperial Assassin which had previously been provided in scattered White Dwarf articles as they were released.  It is extremely small and is little more than a magazine.  Its 3rd edition replacement was even MORE scant and would feature the same cover art only a year later (or thereabouts).  It was also a hint at 3rd edition as this book included no wargear cards (even special wargear for various units was occasionally put into wargear cards) - this book "almost" shares the format of later 3rd edition books.
